Role & Functions of the Committee
- Overall Supervision â Heads the Library Committee and oversees library management, resources, and services.
- Policy & Guidelines â Approves library rules, acquisition policies, and membership procedures in line with college and university guidelines.
- Resource Allocation â Sanctions budget for books, journals, e-resources, subscriptions, and library infrastructure.
- Coordination â Liaises with Principal, departments, faculty, and library staff for smooth functioning.
- Program Approval â Authorizes workshops, reading programs, book fairs, and digital literacy sessions.
- Documentation & Reporting â Maintains records of book purchases, subscriptions, membership, and annual reports.
- Resource Management Support â Assist in the selection, acquisition, and cataloguing of books, journals, and e-resources.
- Monitoring Usage â Track student and faculty usage, borrowing patterns, and ensure proper upkeep of library resources.
- User Assistance â Help students and faculty with book searches, digital resources, and reference services.
- Record Maintenance â Maintain registers for issued/returned books, damaged/lost books, and library membership.
- Coordination with Departments â Communicate faculty requirements for textbooks, reference materials, and special collections.
- Digital Literacy Support â Assist in the use of e-resources, online journals, databases, and ICT tools.
- Feedback & Improvement â Collect feedback from users and suggest improvements in library services.
- Ensure efficient, organized, and user-friendly library services for students and staff.
- Maintain updated, relevant, and sufficient resources for academic and research purposes.
- Promote reading habits, research culture, and digital literacy among students and faculty.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for audits, IQAC, and NAAC compliance.
- Provide support, guidance, and training for effective utilization of library resources.
- Conduct orientation and awareness programs for students and staff.
- Ensure proper maintenance, security, and preservation of library materials and facilities.
