Role & Functions of the Committee

  1. Overall Supervision – Heads the Library Committee and oversees library management, resources, and services.
  2. Policy & Guidelines – Approves library rules, acquisition policies, and membership procedures in line with college and university guidelines.
  3. Resource Allocation – Sanctions budget for books, journals, e-resources, subscriptions, and library infrastructure.
  4. Coordination – Liaises with Principal, departments, faculty, and library staff for smooth functioning.
  5. Program Approval – Authorizes workshops, reading programs, book fairs, and digital literacy sessions.
  6. Documentation & Reporting – Maintains records of book purchases, subscriptions, membership, and annual reports.
  7. Resource Management Support – Assist in the selection, acquisition, and cataloguing of books, journals, and e-resources.
  8. Monitoring Usage – Track student and faculty usage, borrowing patterns, and ensure proper upkeep of library resources.
  9. User Assistance – Help students and faculty with book searches, digital resources, and reference services.
  10. Record Maintenance – Maintain registers for issued/returned books, damaged/lost books, and library membership.
  11. Coordination with Departments – Communicate faculty requirements for textbooks, reference materials, and special collections.
  12. Digital Literacy Support – Assist in the use of e-resources, online journals, databases, and ICT tools.
  13. Feedback & Improvement – Collect feedback from users and suggest improvements in library services.
  14. Ensure efficient, organized, and user-friendly library services for students and staff.
  15. Maintain updated, relevant, and sufficient resources for academic and research purposes.
  16. Promote reading habits, research culture, and digital literacy among students and faculty.
  17. Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for audits, IQAC, and NAAC compliance.
  18. Provide support, guidance, and training for effective utilization of library resources.
  19. Conduct orientation and awareness programs for students and staff.
  20. Ensure proper maintenance, security, and preservation of library materials and facilities.
