Role & Functions of the Committee

  1. Campus Upkeep: Oversee overall maintenance of classrooms, laboratories, offices, furniture, and other physical facilities.
  2. Building & Infrastructure Care: Monitor condition of walls, floors, roofing, doors, windows, and corridors.
  3. Electrical & Plumbing Maintenance: Ensure proper functioning of lights, fans, wiring, switches, water supply lines, taps, washrooms, and drainage.
  4. Equipment Maintenance: Check and coordinate repairs for laboratory instruments, ICT equipment, and office tools.
  5. Annual Maintenance Schedule: Prepare and update yearly maintenance plans for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  6. Vendor Coordination: Liaise with electricians, plumbers, carpenters, technicians, and authorized service agencies.
  7. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance work follows safety norms and institutional guidelines.
  8. Monitoring Cleanliness: Oversee cleanliness of campus, building surroundings, parking area, and common spaces (in coordination with Housekeeping Committee).
  9. Record Keeping: Maintain maintenance logs, repair records, work orders, and expenditure details.
  10. Audit Support: Provide required documentation to internal/external auditors regarding maintenance activities.
  11. Task Allocation: Assign duties to committee members and supervise timely completion.
  12. Budget Utilization: Approve minor repair expenses and recommend major repairs for management approval.
  13. Technical Review: Examine major maintenance issues and decide appropriate repair or replacement actions.
  14. Vendor/Agency Approval: Select and approve service providers (electrician, plumber, carpenter, etc.) based on quality and requirement.
  15. Meetings & Reporting: Conduct meetings, review progress, and submit periodic maintenance reports to the Principal/Management.
  16. Inspection Support: Carry out routine inspections of facilities and identify maintenance needs.
  17. Coordination: Communicate with technicians and service providers for timely repair work.
  18. Documentation: Prepare maintenance reports, maintain registers, and record service/repair activities.
  19. Quality Check: Ensure repair work is completed satisfactorily and meets safety standards.
  20. Stock Monitoring: Check availability of essential maintenance materials and report shortages.
  21. Assistance in Events: Ensure functioning of facilities (electricity, seating, water) during college programs/events.
  22. Support to Chairman: Assist in planning, implementation, and monitoring of maintenance operations.
