Role & Functions of the Committee

  1. Leadership & Supervision – Heads the SC–ST Cell and ensures compliance with UGC/State Government guidelines.
  2. Policy Implementation – Ensures that reservation policies, scholarships, and welfare schemes for SC/ST students are properly implemented.
  3. Grievance Redressal – Receives complaints from SC/ST students and staff and initiates fair, confidential inquiry processes.
  4. Monitoring of Student Welfare – Reviews academic, financial, and social support needs of SC/ST students.
  5. Coordination with Authorities – Acts as the primary link between the college, Principal, Management, University SC/ST Cell, and Government offices.
  6. Conduct of Meetings – Convenes periodic meetings, sets agendas, and ensures follow-up of decisions taken.
  7. Documentation & Reporting – Ensures proper maintenance of records, annual reports, complaint registers, and action-taken reports.
  8. Awareness & Sensitization – Approves and supervises programs on constitutional rights, social justice, and welfare schemes for SC/ST learners.
  9. Support for Scholarship Processes – Oversees verification and timely forwarding of SC/ST scholarship applications.
  10. Student Assistance – Guide SC/ST students about welfare schemes, scholarships, remedial coaching, and support services.
  11. Awareness Activities – Organize programs on social equality, constitutional rights, career development, and motivational sessions.
  12. Monitoring Campus Environment – Identify and report any discrimination, harassment, or unfair practices affecting SC/ST students.
  13. Record Support – Assist in maintaining registers, student data, meeting minutes, and action-taken documentation.
  14. Bridge Interaction – Act as approachable members for SC/ST students seeking counselling, guidance, or academic support.
  15. Support for Rights & Protection – Creates awareness about constitutional safeguards and protection against atrocities.
  16. Scholarship & Financial Support – Facilitates government scholarship schemes, freeships, and financial assistance.
  17. Academic Support – Coordinates remedial classes, mentoring, and skill-development programs.
  18. Complaint Redressal Mechanism – Provides a safe, confidential, time-bound process for resolving grievances.
